Let’s Talk About It— Day 15 of 30Guests in 30Days

We're halfway through the series—Let's Talk About It with #30Guestsin30Days on DETAILS.

Let's ride and roll friends.🎉

Volunteering is a voluntary act of an individual or group freely giving time and labor for community service.

This definition is beyond perfect and aligns with my values of volunteering. Let's break it down,

1. It is a voluntary act which means you have to have the interest and deep passion to volunteer.

2. You have to freely give your time and labor to volunteer.

Volunteering like that is the last thing you have to do on earth. As an experienced volunteer, you have to be open to information and join platforms and society that enables and provide such opportunity.

In Volunteering, giving is a keyword. You have to be willing to give and expect nothing in return. But guess what, there are numerous benefits to Volunteering. These are:

● Open to numerous other opportunities

● A way to build your interpersonal skill

● Easy access to building your network

● Content to building your portfolio as a student

● Gives you another dimension of life

While some people are naturally outgoing, others are shy and have a hard time meeting new people. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice and develop your social skills, since you are meeting regularly with a group of people with common interests. Once you have momentum, it's easier to branch out and make more friends and contacts.

Volunteering increases self-confidence. You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. And the better you feel about yourself, the more likely you are to have a positive view of your life and future goals.

Moreso it is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area. It strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood resources, and fun and fulfilling activities.

The benefits goes on and on, Volunteering is quite interesting and exciting if you are willing to take part in it but note not all opportunities should be taken. So before going for any outreach or taking a volunteering opportunity it is important you:

● Make thorough research about the organization using platforms like Linkedin, Google, Instagram, Facebook

● Share the details with friends and family.

● Ask necessary questions from the organizers

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
