DAY 27 of 30 FASHION CODES IN 30 DAYS

Press pause on the Netflix movies and save the carbonated drinks for tomorrow. Today we’re talking about skin care, which is one of the important, and glorious things to do as an individual! Getting beautiful skin isn’t a matter of magic; it’s a matter of consistency. Shall we?

However improbable it might sound to you, taking care of your skin equates buying that quality shoe, dress or pants. Taking good care of your skin is important for more than just your appearance. As the largest organ you have, your skin is essential to your general health. If you take care of it, it can help take care of you. Wouldn’t it be nice that everything is looking peng. From your staples to your skin. Quick memo, this Fashion Code applies to both gender. ROGER THAT?

While taking good care of our skin is a genius move, I’d be remiss if I don’t devote words to The Omosanya Ayomiposi who collaborated on this FASHION CODE! Many thanks!

Now, let’s get into the real deal!

WAYS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN

When it comes to skin care, there is no question that prevention is easier than fixing a problem. Doing things like wearing sunscreen, washing your face daily, and using a good moisturizer can prevent invasive treatments down the road. Neglect can result in many preventable problems.

Having beautiful skin as you get older means making smart choices throughout your life. Just as doing the right things now can help you down the road, bad skin care choices can have lifelong impacts.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS

Within the beauty industry and on social media, there’s so much emphasis on purchasing products. Be careful with your selection. Stick to your skin tone.

WASH YOU MAKEUP

Ladies, old makeup, bacteria, oil, dust, and sweat accumulate on our makeup brushes. If not cleaned regularly all that junk is essentially smeared around your face during each makeup application. This can cause inflammation, and acne. It's best practice to clean your makeup brushes weekly!

SHOWER AND WASH YOUR FACE WITH LUKEWARM WATER (not hot)

Lukewarm is best because it allows our

oils to warm up a bit, allowing a proper cleanse without completely stripping it.

SLEEP

The problems of the world are infinite, beauty sleep is the real deal! While we slumber our bodies heal and regenerate cells.

DRINKING WATER

While drinking water doesn't directly hydrate the skin it does help all of the body systems function better.

It aids the liver in eliminating toxins from the body, reduces puffiness, helps with kidney function (which in turn helps dark circles appear lighter), and may even help skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. How can you tell if you aren't drinking enough water? Check your pee! If it's a deep shade of amber it's time to drink up. The colour of lemonade is the goal.

FIND WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS

When we're stressed or anxious, our bodies release a hormone called cortisol. This hormone activates our flight or fight response (which is a good thing!) but constant stress keeps this response on fatigued overdrive (yep,a bad thing).

Specifically to our skin, increased levels ofcortisol can cause us to lose our glow by diminishing the skin's ability to retain moisture and encouraging an overproduction of oils.

EXERCISE

We all know that getting our sweat on is great for our entire body, but it also has some skin benefits as well. When we move, we circulate our blood which carries oxygen and nutrients to all of our cells. Not only does this provide an instant glow, but it also helps our skin to repair itself faster.

Resist the urge not to take good care of your skin. Happy Saturday!🥳
